Bring It On Boro - Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) Programme

Bring It On Boro is the catchy new name for the Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) Programme – and it’s up and running now.

Eligible families in both Middlesbrough and Redcar can now book a range of free, fun and exciting activities across the school summer holidays.

There are thousands of free places for children aged five to 16 from families in receipt of benefit-related free school meals to sign up for.

Up for grabs will be physical activity, arts and crafts and other activities, as well as access to a healthy, hot meal made to school food standards.

The HAF programme aims to support parents though the school holidays - providing children with a nutritious meal, keeping them busy with fun activities and supporting them to make new friendships.

All children who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals can take part.

The initiative is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and features an exciting range of activities from a range of trusted providers.

These cover sport and physical activity such as football, golf or swimming, creative activities like music workshops, arts and crafts and experiences such as nature walks, visiting a museum and exciting trips to Alpamare and Flamingo Land.

Councillor Philippa Storey, Middlesbrough Deputy Mayor and Executive member for Culture & Education, said: “The summer holidays are a fantastic time for our young people to get active, enjoy the great outdoors and give free rein to their energy and creativity.

“Cost of living pressures are making it tough for all us at the moment, so initiatives like the HAF programme’s Bring It On Boro open up amazing opportunities that many families might otherwise miss on.

“I’d urge as many people as possible who are eligible to sign up – you won’t regret it, and your children have a summer of fun to look forward to.”

Spaces are limited and strictly first come, first served – for more information and bookings visit the Bring It On! website.

Those with children not in receipt of benefit-related school meals and who want to take part are asked to email holidayfoodandactivities@middlesbrough.gov.uk or call 01642 728888.
