The EYFS team held our evening meeting for parents last night in Oakwood building. The meeting allowed parents to chat to each other and EYFS staff, as well as providing the opportunity to find out more about the EYFS curriculum and look at some of the resources and activities the children are involved with.
A slide show and refreshments helped to make the evening a relaxed and enjoyable event.
We would like to thank parents for helping to make our meetings successful. We look forward to our next one and would love to hear any ideas you may have for future events.
As a school we have once again decided we would like to participate in the gift – filled ‘shoebox’ appeal. (Known as Operation Christmas Child, A Project of Samaritan’s Purse.). The annual project enables us to fill ordinary shoeboxes with small gifts to be delivered to children in hospitals, orphanages and refugee camps etc.
Each class here at Kirkleatham will be involved in filling shoeboxes after the half–term holiday. Any gifts from the list below will be gratefully received when we arrive back at school at the very beginning of November. Please send them into school with your child on their return to school.
I hope you will help us support this very worthwhile cause
Yours sincerely
Stephanie Welford (Mrs) RE Co-ordinator

We are delighted to announce that four of our students have gained the very demanding GOLD Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in July 2015
Elaine Buckby who is the Co-ordinator for the award has been with the students since they commenced the programme at Bronze level and said that she was extremely proud of the lads and is so glad she pushed them through adversity. She confessed that she felt like crying with pride. The award would not have been possible without the volunteers along with those school staff who go that extra mile to make this happen.
The four students Dan, Daniel, Carl and Matthew delivered a presentation to their families, school staff and D of E representatives to showcase their achievements. The event included some ‘boil in the bag’ food tasting, to highlight what they lived on during their week long expedition!
Congratulations lads and very well done. This is a HUGE achievement. We are incredibly proud of each of you!
On Thursday 5th November the EYFS staff held a parents meeting. The meeting was an opportunity for parents to meet school staff and find out about our curriculum. We shared activities that the children participate in and had the opportunity to look at photos of the children playing in our settings. The Oakwood café provided refreshments, prepared by the FE students.
It was wonderful to see so many parents. We really enjoyed the opportunity to share ideas and experiences, and hope to build upon this with further meetings. If you were unable to attend this meeting and would like to find out about your child’s education in the EYFS there will be a repeat of this meeting on Tuesday 10th November at 5pm.
