Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
Congratulations to the four ex-students: Carl, Daniel, Daniel, and Matthew. Over many months, and getting involved in some gruelling tasks, they managed successfully to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. The students were invited to St James’ Palace (in London) on the 15 November, to receive their special certificates. They were presented to them by HRH Prince Philip. We now have another cohort of students who have embarked on the Duke of Edinburgh scheme Bronze Award. Seven students have started on a journey to complete their Bronze award by completing an overnight expedition. Starting out on the first day, the students checked their maps and walked from Captain Cooks monument to Kildale on a very sunny winters afternoon. Upon their arrival (at a very basic camping barn) students set up their beds for the night and prepared to cook their own food on camping stoves – Bachelors Super Noodles being a firm favourite. After a cold night, it was up for breakfast and a walk to Roseberry Topping, in very cold and grey conditions, students did very well to reach the summit. Well done to all on achieving your Bronze award.
