Kirkleatham Hall School

"Unlocking Potential"

Fun Run

A great big THANK YOU must go to Pauline Thorpe for her fantastic fund raising effort. Here is how, in her own words what she did.

I wanted to help Kirkleatham Hall School in Redcar in some way, as they give the most vital care and education to children with a variety of learning difficulties. I found out about this school through a friend who raises money for them. He is part of a male voice choir who travels the Cleveland area giving concerts to raise money for this wonderful school.

My daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren had applied to do the fun run in Brentwood Essex on the 20th of March, so I thought this is an opportunity for me to spend a few days with them and also raise some money for the school. The morning of the race was overcast and quite cool but it did not dampen the spirit of the runners and there was a great turnout. My daughter said to me you will be ok Mum as the route is flat. Not long into the race we approached a very long road all downhill. Great, I thought to myself, but at some point it must go uphill and sure enough it did. After that we all turned off the road into cross country!!!! Still, I finished the run which I was so pleased to do. My Grandson Harry aged 10 did it in 21 minutes; my son-in-law and other Grandson James aged 12 did it in 31 minutes. I followed them shortly behind coming in at 33 minutes — not bad for an “oldie”.

A big thank you to “Cheque It Out” for their   donation of fifty pounds, it will certainly help these children who are not as fortunate as others. I would also like to thank to all my friends and work colleagues for their donations. In total I raised £300 all going to this worth while cause.

Pauline Thorpe. Well done Pauline and thanks once again
