  • Fun Run

Mon 09 May 2016 Kevin Robson
A great big THANK YOU must go to Pauline Thorpe for her fantastic fund raising effort. Here is how, in her own words what she did.

I wanted to help Kirkleatham Hall School in Redcar in some way, as they give the most vital care and education to children with a variety of learning difficulties. I found out about this school through a friend who raises money for them. He is part of a male voice choir who travels the Cleveland area giving concerts to raise money for this wonderful school.

My daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren had applied to do the fun run in Brentwood Essex on the 20th of March, so I thought this is an opportunity for me to spend a few days with them and also raise some money for the school. The morning of the race was overcast and quite cool but it did not dampen the spirit of the runners and there was a great turnout. My daughter said to me you will be ok Mum as the route is flat. Not long into the race we approached a very long road all downhill. Great, I thought to myself, but at some point it must go uphill and sure enough it did. After that we all turned off the road into cross country!!!! Still, I finished the run which I was so pleased to do. My Grandson Harry aged 10 did it in 21 minutes; my son-in-law and other Grandson James aged 12 did it in 31 minutes. I followed them shortly behind coming in at 33 minutes — not bad for an “oldie”.

A big thank you to “Cheque It Out” for their   donation of fifty pounds, it will certainly help these children who are not as fortunate as others. I would also like to thank to all my friends and work colleagues for their donations. In total I raised £300 all going to this worth while cause.

Pauline Thorpe. Well done Pauline and thanks once again

  • Flamingo Land

Thu 05 May 2016 Kevin Robson

On Wednesday 8 June 2016 pupils from all classes will be visiting Flamingo Land Resort courtesy of the Rotary Club of Redcar on a ‘Kids Day Out’.

Pupils will leave school at around 9.30 am and return to school for approximately 5.15 pm.

In order to cover any questions, I hope the following will be useful to you:

Because of the unpredictable British weather each pupil should have:

A lightweight waterproof coat or jacket with their name inside

    Sensible footwear

Sun block cream – to save everyone sending in separate bottles, staff in each class are able to administer using one bottle with your permission. A high factor sun cream will be used on your child throughout the day. This applies to EYFS – Class 10. If you are not happy with this arrangement please send in a named bottle of sun cream with instructions, otherwise we will understand that your permission has been granted.

FE students will be responsible for their own sun protection.

Pupils will need £3 each to purchase an ice cream/lollipop during the day. Please also send in two or three drinks in non-glass containers for your child during the day.

If your child requires medication before returning home please send this to school with NAME AND CLEAR WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS.

To avoid congestion in the School Car Park, please note when collecting your child please park in the MUSEUM CAR PARK and leave the Coach Park empty for the school buses. The School Car Park will be closed.

As you will realise a day out like this involves a lot of organising and we hope that we have answered everyone’s queries and concerns. Pupils will be assigned to an adult who will be responsible for their welfare throughout the day. We trust we have covered everything and that they all enjoy a good day out with ‘Kids Day Out’ a national fun day sponsored by Rotary Club of Redcar.
