Starting in the Autumn term the Land Services group has been attending Beyond Boundaries, Commondale and Botton farms, Botton Village, one day each week, as part of a transitions programme.
These sessions have included work on a wide range of activities at both venues.
At Beyond Boundaries they have experienced at some animal care activities, farm property maintenance and they have even had a chance to participate in an archaeological dig.
At Botton they have been working with large animals including sheep, pigs and cows. The activities have included moving, feeding and mucking out. They have also experienced harvesting vegetables, including potatoes and carrots. Other duties have included maintenance of buildings and fences.
All of the students involved have participated fully in the activities asked of them and look forward to going each week.
Have you got an hour to spare for coffee, cake and a chat then why not drop in to our monthly coffee afternoon, which is held every third Thursday of the month in our Oakwood café, from 1.00pm until 2.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee and cake. This will give parents/carers/friends and family the opportunity to meet up and chat. Our next afternoon is planned for Thursday 24th January 2019.
We look forward to seeing you there.

The students were investigating how the media can affect body image. They explored positive body image and what happens when body image goes wrong. They looked at how the media use technology and programs to distort and enhance images in a range of media. They also investigated how to develop and improve your body image to enhance and improve your self esteem. Then they planned within their groups how to pass on their message through a video. They used a range of existing videos as inspiration and worked collaboratively to plan, prepare and film their group videos with outstanding results.
Check out the Gallery for the Videos the student have created...
