Dear Parents, Carers and Friends
On Thursday 22nd February 2018 we will be holding our regular parent coffee morning from 10.30am – 11.45am in our Oakwood Building.
Everyone is welcome to join Tracy and Helen (Parent Governors) and other parents for an informal chat over a complimentary drink and cake.
We look forward to seeing you there.
As part of their topic about George Stephenson, Rosedale class recently visited the Locomotion railway museum at Shildon. We spent the morning looking at the many exhibits from the railways past and present.
We were particularly interested to see the old steam engines from the 1825 period when the railways were only just being developed.
We saw a life size replica of the first ever steam locomotive the Locomotion No.1, built by George Stephenson. We also looked at the Sans Pareil locomotive which was involved in the Rainhill Trials; a competition to find a locomotive to pull trains on the Liverpool to Manchester line. The Sans Pareil lost to the famous Rocket locomotive.
After going around the museum we went to the café to gain confidence in spending small amounts of money in different contexts.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning!
On Shrove Tuesday 13th February we will be opening our Acorn Café from 9.30am – 11.30am.
Everyone is welcome to join us for a pancake breakfast with a variety of fillings and refreshments.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Raising E-safety awareness: The importance of knowing the dangers on the internet
Tuesday 27th February 3.30pm-4.30pm
As part of our on-going commitment to improving communication with parents, you are warmly invited to an e-safety awareness workshop held in school on Tuesday 27th February between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
Kirkleatham Hall School recognise the difficult challenges young people can face, we aim to provide them and yourselves with as much key information as possible to empower them to become safe users of the internet and mobile devices.
The main purpose of the workshop will be to learn about specific online concerns and dangers, which your son/daughter may face or be exposed to, and to find out how you can minimise the risks.
We hope at the end of the evening you will feel you have a greater understanding and knowledge of the dangers your son/daughter may face and know where to go for help and advice if you have concerns. I hope to see you on the evening which I know will be a valuable and informative event.
The session will be for adult attendance only due to the nature of the content.
