  • Paul Gribbon - Hard Moors 110

Sat 25 May 2019 Paul Gribbon

Fourteen months ago I ran, walked and limped the Hardmoors 55 mile ultra-marathon during the infamous Beast from the East.  I was overwhelmed by the fundraising support.  Since this challenge I have come to terms with the fact that I’m not as young as I think and I can’t just take on this sort of challenge without very little training.  I am also totally inspired by my good friend and colleague “Ginger Paul” who at his grand age continues to strive to do better in his running and has had a number of awesome achievements, recently finishing 80th position in the Manchester Marathon out of over 20,000 runners!!!

As we always support the children to be the best they can be, I feel I should also do the same.  So I have started to run more, though I still wouldn’t call myself a runner! I’ve completed two 50 mile ultras and a 60 mile ultra and on finishing I have always said – “How can anyone run the 110?” When people ask me “How do you manage running 50 miles?” I say ‘it’s all in your head’ so with that in mind it would be hypocritical of me not to run the 110!

School residentials hold a very special place in my heart as I have the privilege of seeing what our students and families get from them.  Memories of seeing our students exceed and overcome huge challenges will be a massive motivation on the run and I feel more than ready to tackle this enormous challenge.

The miles and miles of training have been completed and my confidence is running high after winning the Hardmoors Half Marathon trail race two weeks ago, unexpectedly.

Your support with this challenge really will make a huge difference and will ease the pain as this one is really going to hurt too!

If you would like to track my progress during the event you can use the website below, my number is 100

  • Wear Pink for Millie Mai Day

    Fri 24 May 2019

On Friday 24th May, School held a special day to remember Millie Mai who sadly passed away on 25th April this year after a short illness.

Millie loved pink and would often be seen around school in many shades of pink, indeed even her wheelchair was pink.

Children and staff wore pink and gave donations towards the Millie Mai Final Journey Fund.  In total £420 was raised, have a look in the gallery for the photos.

Millie Mai is and will always be missed by our school community.  It has been lovely to have a special day to remember her.
